Feminist Movement Building at the IGF 2022: Pollicy’s participation

This year, Pollicy is actively taking part in the 2022 Internet Governance Forum happening in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia starting today November 28th to December 2nd.

The Internet Governance Forum (IGF) serves to bring people together from various stakeholder groups as equals, in discussions on public policy issues relating to the Internet. The IGF informs and inspires those with policy-making power in both the public and private sectors. This annual convening provides an opportunity for delegates to meet, discuss, exchange information and share good practices with each other. The IGF facilitates a common understanding of maximising Internet and technology opportunities and addressing risks and challenges. The IGF theme for 2022 is ‘Resilient Internet for a Shared Sustainable and Common Future’.

Our convening power has long been the foundation for our work on co-creating a feminist internet and more (please check out our resources page). We will further highlight our work and build communities of practice around contributing to a feminist internet with key partners and stakeholders at the IGF 2022. We will be highlighting the role of Africa in the data and internet governance discourse and how key players- government, private sector and CSO Stakeholders in highlighting the progress made on digital resilience.

The nature of our participation at IGF 2022 ranges from leading town hall sessions to being speakers at key panels, attending other key sessions in the IGF 2022 Programme, closed sessions, closed consultations as well as leading panel discussions. These will be held in hybrid formats where both physical and digital participants will be given a chance to contribute to the agenda of the sessions.
