It is with heavy hearts that we are announcing the postponement of DataFest Kampala, which was scheduled to take place on April 2nd and 3rd, 2020. We made this decision in light of travel advisories issues by the Ministry of Health of Uganda regarding COVID-19, and taking into account the safety and health of our attendees.
We are aware that there are no suspected or documented cases of COVID-19 in Uganda, however, several of the organizers and attendees were planning to fly in for the event. Furthermore, we do not want to underestimate the impact and consequences that the COVID-19 could pose to attendees, their communities and vulnerable populations.
We stand by and commend the Ministry of Health’s directive in ensuring the safety of everyone in Uganda. For more information on safe mass gathering, please see the information below.
This is by no means a cancellation of the event. We will inform our community of new dates and details, based on the unfolding situation regarding COVID-19. We nearly sold out all tickets for the event within a week and we are eternally grateful for the enthusiasm of our attendees and the support of our partners. Please stay in touch through Twitter, Facebook or our newsletter for further information on DataFestKLA2020.
